Trainings & Workshops
Our trainings are designed to educate, inspire, and build capacity for individuals and organizations working to end domestic violence.
Domestic Abuse/Sexual Assault Training
Cost: $250
This multi-week training program raises awareness about domestic abuse and sexual assault, emphasizing that it is never acceptable—regardless of gender. Participants will gain both knowledge and practical strategies for prevention, advocacy, and survivor support.
Training Topics Include:
-
Domestic violence defined by CDC guidelines, including physical, sexual, stalking, and psychological aggression. Covers prevalence across demographics, including IPV, child abuse, and elder abuse.
-
Explores the physical, emotional, psychological, and financial toll of abuse on individuals and families, including children who witness violence.
-
Reviews the evolution of attitudes toward DV, the Women’s Liberation Movement, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and cultural/systemic disparities (e.g., racial inequities, LGBTQIA+ challenges).
-
Identifies physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse, and explains manipulation frameworks like the Power and Control Wheel and G.A.M.E.S. Model (Gaslighting, Accusatory, Manipulative, Egotistical, Shaming).
-
Provides an overview of 209A restraining orders, constitutional rights, and major legislation such as VAWA, FVPSA, CAPTA, ADA, SaVE Act, and cybercrime laws.
-
Addresses barriers survivors face (fear, stigma, legal mistrust, financial limitations) and systemic perpetuation (school-to-prison pipeline, sexual abuse-to-prison pipeline, trafficking, disproportionate legal representation, DCF involvement, generational trauma).
-
Highlights the importance of timely response, safety planning, use of technology and evidence, and trauma-informed approaches. Includes resources for emergency and community support, with a focus on Massachusetts services.
